100 Monkeys Album: Sneak Preview!
Twilight star Jackson Rathbone has been a very busy man this year.
Jackson has filmed M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (natch!), and the upcoming drama Girlfriend consecutively, and he will host the newly announced festival NewCon2009 in Nashville, Tennessee from November 6th to the 8th, which includes Twilight and New Moon inspired art competitions as well as poetry and fan fiction contests. (Whew! We’re exhausted just writing all that down!)
But Jackson's true pride and joy has been recording a new, yet-to-be-titled album with his band 100 Monkeys, with which he'll embark on a 100 city tour before the year is out!
I was recently given the opportunity to listen to three tracks from the album, and let me tell you, if you aren't a fan of the band, you absolutely will be once this baby drops. 100 Monkeys have evolved with a more polished and refined sound. (Get it? Monkeys? Evolved? Oh, never mind...)
Sitting down with Jackson and his bandmate Jerad Anderson last week, I asked the guys about the album. Jackson (aka: "JAction") said, "It was definitely worth the wait. Every song sounds amazing." With a look of excitement, Jerad (aka: "JRad") simply stated that, he "can't wait."
Just so you know, 100 Monkeys' new CD will be available at Target, Barnes & Noble, and Hot Topic stores everywhere starting on November 17th!

Just in case people have ventured into a Target, Barnes and Noble, or Hot Topic store only to find that the CD is not there, the release date has been moved to late November. The official 100Monkeys music site states late November and Jackson said at the New Moon premiere that it would be out in about a week and a half (check out the youtube videos of the premiere) Debbie

I admire Jackson for his acting talents but also i admire him and the boys much more for their music which has received greater attention since Twilight, these guys are just like any band- they are out there to entertain because they love to do so, Twilight kicked all the young 'unknowns' in the cast into the spotlight and for which I know they are thankful for, Jackson was a 100 monkey before he was a hale, he isnt a try hard actor in the music industry, his artist talent is as good as his acting, if you don't like them, its your loss , they have plenty of fans out there who love them to death and support them 100% I wish the boys good luck, can't wait for the album!!!!!!!
okay okay, I do admit, I hadn't heard of these guys before I so hopelessly fell for Jackson but Twilight gave them the extra kick they needed to step out with their huge fan base now thanks to twilight, but its up to you to keep listening to their music......
@TaylorMileyRock - your comment was totally unnecessary here. should have kept that to yourself. I do admit that without Twilight it would have taken me a lot longer to get to know their music but they are out there much longer than twilight and to just bash someone without knowing any facts it's just childish! And if you don't have anything useful to post - then don't post at all! I love the monkeys....their musik is just so unique! hope I will be able to see them live one day. heard they are amazing!

People might start out viewing 100 Monkeys through the Twilight fog - but there is no doubt that these guys stand on their own musically. I have been waiting for this album like a junkie waiting for a fix.

They are an amazing band! Twilight may be the reason people gave them a chance but their music will be the reason you will continue to listen.
That's not true, this is their 4th album and all the others came out BEFORE Twilight. They have a following of their own.
TaylorMileyRock: u r right - thx to twilight Jackson's band is getting attention. I too thought "Oh another actor wants to be a musician - great." Went and saw a performance and was blown away. Great talent (THE WHOLE BAND) with great songs to match. Don't be so judgemental. I was - and now have a great band to luv. They put on a great show. Actually check them out before you critque.

Just would like to point out that the chick TaylorMileyRock... Twilight helped all of the stars careers. It got them exposure. I don't see what's so bad about that.

There is no reason that he shouldn't get to have a music career just because he was in Twilight, TaylorMileyRock. If you don't listen just because of that then you're just spiting yourself. 100 Monkeys are a very talented band, with a unique sound and definitely worth a listen.
100 monkeys is an amazing band..and even though they became more noticed after Jackson was in Twilight does not mean that you shouldnt listen!! Let me tell you, im definately glad i started listening them. you wont be disappointed!
Actually, TaylorMileyRock, they've been recording for a few years, in their home studio. While one can't argue that Twilight didn't expand their audience, these guys are as genuine as could be. "Fame" alone could not carry this music; they have put 100% into this group, and it's obvious when you hear the music. They are all very talented artists. I barely even think of Jackson as an actor, really, he's more of a musician/artist when you get right down to it. But of course you don't have to "bother to listen to it," it's not like they're missing out on anything by peoples' snappy unfounded judgments. 100 Monkeys isn't about trying to impress people, but rather to have appreciate music as an artistic endeavor. They love what they do, their fans (usually) love what they do, and that's all there is to it.
People would have never heard of his band and he would have never got to record if he wasn't in Twilight. They just cannot stop spoiling those Twilight stars! I'm not even gonna bother to listen to it,its probably crappy anyway.
they've got a good sound that's for sure. definetely a band that loves the music they create more than its profit! def going to be one of my favourite indie bands.

Great article, love that you mentioned Newcon and announce that the CD will be out soon. But why did you use Mr. Jasper Hale, Jackson's character from Twilight, in the article?? Kind of confusing.
