Rob: My Hair Acts For Me!
Hair's the thing: If Robert Pattinson ever won an Oscar for Best Actor, he may have to thank that trademark messy mane of his!
"I sound so stupid, but in a lot of ways the hair is 75 percent of my performance," Rob recently joked. "So in [New Moon] I said, 'Listen, I need to tone down the hair. Let's make it a little more real, a little bit more… Method.'"
We'll definitely have to look for that more grounded performance from his follicles. So natural!
Rob also revealed that while filming the third entry in the saga (Eclipse), his hair went rogue, and the director actually had to yell "cut!"
"I'm doing fight scenes and there's a strand going down my forehead and they're like, 'We need to do it again because no one will recognize you! No one will know who it is!' I have to look like the poster at all times. Just in case they want to use any clip for the trailer. Any clip at all! There were about five people in different departments who, because of my forelock, ended up in tears."
So sad! But we can relate: Any time we see Rob or his hair, we want to cry too... for joy!

he's a horrible actor...his hair is ugly, and he's not a good looking guy. Edward is supposed to be beautiful, remember? Pattinson has a flat face. He looks like he hit a wall at high speed. I like the messy hair look usually, but it looks too contrived on him.
Rob's hair does complete him and it is part of his many awesome features.

It actually makes sense, although I don't know to what extent this was tongue in cheek. The character of Edward is described as devastatingly handsome, perfect, god-like, etc. The whole fmaily was most fashionable, strikingly beautiful , etc. To have him with a hair do that is a mockery, not cool, a poor attempt at the coolness of James Dean, esp in a time period when the teens of Edward's supposed age don't have a clue about James Dean, was simply ill-thought. The hairstyle in NewMOon definitely fits the character better. So yes, the hair contributes to the creation of the character.
