Cody Simpson just debuted a new song, "Happy Lil' Hippie," from his upcoming record Free and it's a beachy and summery delight — but it also seems to pay homage to Miley Cyrus! The single is about a carefree girl who is a "happy lil' hippie." Sound familiar? That's also the name of the pop star's charity organization, The Happy Hippie Foundation.
However, instead of being about his celebrity bestie, he told Billboard that the track was inspired by a normal girl he met at the beach.
"I wrote the song about a girl I met on the street in Venice Beach. She had this whole bohemian look to her. After sharing some conversation with her, I realized that we shared a lot of the same views on life, and on the world. She was so non-conformist and so happy, and just lived her life the way she wanted to."
Still, we do think that it fits into the spirit of the "Wrecking Ball" singer. And we know that she's already contributed a lot to his new musical endeavors.
